Makalu Base Camp Trek


Main Attraction:

Yeti hunting trekking region, both mid-hill & Sherpa cultural experience, in the mid-hills are mainly inhabited by Rai, Tamang, Brahmin, Kshetri etc., undisturbed wildlife and forest , panoramic views of eastern mountain range including Everest range, unforgettable adventure and photographic journey.

Accessibility:
45 minute fly to Tumlingtar to trailhead or by bus 20 hr. to Hile, with a round trip flight the trek takes only 20 days and by overland.

The Route:
About 5-6 hr. walk per day, max. Altitude 4700 m. moderate trail, temperate climate jungle walk to High Alpine area, the area near Makalu in the upper Arun valley is cold.
Best Season:
Oct. to early Dec. and March to May.

Facility:
No teahouses, after the last village camping only, porters needed for all gear & food.

Fly to Tumlingtar and overnight

Day 02:
Tumlingtar - Manebhanjyang (1100m)

Day 03:
Manebhanjyang - Kuwapani

Day 04:
Kuwapani - Num (1500m)

Day 05:
Num (1500m) - Sedua (1510m)

Day 06:
Sedua - Tashigaon (2070m)

Day 07:
Acclimatization day at Tashigaon

Day 08:
Tashigaon (2070m) - Khongma (3560m)

Day 09:
Khongma (3560m) - Sanopokhari

Day 10:
Sanopokhari - Mumbuk (3550m)

Day 11:
Mumbuk (3550m) - Yangle Kharka (3600m)

Day 12:
Yangle Kharka (3600m) - Majh Kharka

Day 13:
Majh Kharka - Makalu Base Camp (4750m)

Day 14:
Exploration day around

Day 15:
Makalu Base Camp - Yangle Kharka (3600m)

Day 16:
Yangle Kharka - Mumbuk (3550m)

Day 17:

Mumbuk (3550m) - Khongma (3560m)

Day 18:
Khongma (3560m) - Sedua (1510m)

Day 19:
Sedua (1510m) - Hurhure (1960m)

Day 20:
Hurhure (1960m) - Bhotebas (1740m)

Day 21:
Bhotebas (1740m) - Tumlingtar
